It stars Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, John Carroll Lynch, Marisa Tomei, Analeigh Tipton and Kevin Bacon. The film was released in United States and Canada by Warner Bros. Pictures on July 29, 2011. The film received favorable reviews and was commercially successful. Ryan Gosling received a Golden Globe nomination for his work in it.
